The Volvo S90 has been launched in India at Rs 53.5 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). It is the second car to be underpinned by the modular platform found in the XC90 and replaces the S80 range of vehicles in the sub-continent. It is available in Inscription Luxury variant and in four colour options - white, black and two shades of blue. We have already driven the car and you can find a link to our first drive review here.

Externally, the S90 sports the Chinese owned Swedish automaker’s latest design philosophy which includes the ‘Thor hammer’ headlights, wide grille, boomerang shaped tail lamps and body lines that give the feeling that the S90 is a coupe with four doors rather than a sports sedan.

The cabin is similar to that of the XC90 and comes feature loaded with things like electric seats, electric mirrors, leather upholstery and climate control. Just like its SUV sibling, the S90’s party trick in the cabin is the giant touchscreen infotainment system that has done away with the need for  most of the physical buttons thereby giving the cabin a minimalistic yet modern appearance. This being a Volvo, it is high on the safety quotient and gets features like Nappa leather seats with ventilated front seats for heating and cooling, nine-inch screen, three drive modes and more.

Powering the India spec S90 is 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces a 187bhp and 400Nm of torque with power going to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The Volvo S90 takes on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Jaguar XF, Audi A6 and the BMW 5 Series in the mid-size luxury segment.
