      Volvo India eyeing FAME benefits for XC90 T8 hybrid

      The recently launched XC90 T8 Excellence plug-in hybrid from Volvo has not received any benefits from the government’s FAME scheme as it has been introduced in the country via the CBU route. However, the automaker will approach the government body to avail concessions for its hybrid vehicle, which will eventually be passed to the customers.

      The Volvo XC90 T8 Excellence is the most luxurious vehicle ever to be produced in the company’s history spanning over 89 years. Volvo’s radar technology enabled SUV has been introduced in India via a quarterly licence agreement with the concerned government bodies. Post three months, the automaker will apply for fresh licence when it intends on importing a fresh lot in the country. Once the units arrive in India and clears various norms and certification process, it will approach FAME to avail hybrid benefits which has been recently announced by the government.

      The Volvo XC90 T8 Excellence is powered by an electric as well as a petrol engine. The 2.0-litre direct injection supercharged petrol engine produces 316bhp of power, while in combination with an electric motor it generates 401bhp of power and 640Nm of torque. The vehicle is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in just about 5.6-seconds and is available in three driving modes - Pure, Hybrid and Power.
