Volvo India announced a hike in prices across its range, effective from April 1, 2017. All their models would undergo an upward revision in their ex-showroom prices by up to 2.5 per cent. The Swedish carmaker asserts that the increase in prices is due to growing input costs.

The hike ranges between Rs 54,200 to Rs 2.5 lakh depending upon the model. The Volvo V40 range, the most affordable vehicle in Volvo India’s portfolio, gets a price hike ranging from Rs 54,200 to 56,900 across all the variants. The S60 sedan gets dearer by Rs 75,000 while the S90 sedan, offered in a single variant, is dearer by Rs 1 lakh. In the SUV range, the price of an XC60 has been raised by Rs 90,000 and that of the XC90 by Rs 1 lakh. What’s more, the pricing for the XC90 T8 Excellence plug-in hybrid variant has been upped by a whopping Rs 2.5 lakh!

Volvo isn’t the only carmaker to increase its pricing. Recently, BMW hiked the prices of its models including the Mini. Honda and Ford also revised their pricing at the beginning of the new fiscal year. This price hike is attributed to rupee's depreciation and increase in the input costs like raw materials and freight charges.
