The global compact car market is growing rapidly thanks to manufacturers wanting to bring younger buyers into their fold. The latest to join the fight is expected to be Volvo who has hinted at a 20 series range of vehicles.

This new range of vehicles, when it is officially announced, will slot in below the 40 series range of cars. Going by the current design trends of the automaker, we can expect that they will have a crossover, sedan and a hatchback in this segment.

This 20 Series of vehicles is expected to take on the likes of the A family of vehicles from Mercedes, A3 family from Audi and 1 Series range of vehicles from BMW. These compact cars are volumes models for the manufacturers and are usually the entry point into the brand.

One thing we can be sure of is that the 20 series range of cars will mimic their elder siblings in terms of design both on the inside and outside. Reports also hint that this range will see a heavy amount of electrification to keep in line with the Swedish automakers plans to have a significant amount of electric cars in its range.
