Volkswagen India is trying everything, from updating exiting products to bringing new ones, to increase its sales in the Indian car market. The company is planning to launch a series of new products, and most of them will be mass segment products. That is also because company's premium products have not been able to attract so many buyers. One such product is Touareg SUV that failed to perform in India, and that is, probably, the reason why the company is planning to discontinue it from the market. Upon checking VW India's official website, we got to know that the company has removed this premium SUV from its product listing page.

The Volkswagen Touareg SUV comes via CBU (Completely Built Unit) route, which makes it pricier. Under the bonnet is the tried & tested 3.0-litre V6 TDI diesel engine that is capable of producing a top power output of 240bhp and a peak torque of 550Nm. This engine is coupled to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The aggressive looking sports utility vehicle is equipped with a series of comfort and convenience features.

The company has already discontinued the Passat sedan. Now with Touareg removal from VW India’s lineup- the Jetta becomes VW's most expensive product in India. However, VW will launch the new generation Passat in 2015. Volkswagen is currently focusing on mass market products and is aiming to enter into growing compact SUV and sedan segment. The compact sedan, based on the Polo hatchback, is likely to go on sale by the end of 2015, while the compact SUV will hit the market in 2016-17.
