Volkswagen seems bullish for the Indian car market as the company is working on the introduction of three new cars in India slated to launch next year. Having proclaimed its plan to increase its market share in India, Volkswagen has already started overhauling its current popular vehicles in India. From its existing models, the Polo facelift is already on sale and the Vento facelift is on its way to be rolled out during the festive season. However among the three launches slated for next year, the company will be bringing three premium vehicles including new Passat, new Jetta and Beetle.
However Passat was earlier offered in India by the car maker, but due to low response the saloon was phased out from domestic market. Come 2015 and India will again get the 2015 VW B8 Passat revealed in the beginning of this year. The new generation Passat is relatively smaller as compared to its predecessor, but on the contrary the saloon gets roomier cabin equipped with a string of high end features upping the comfort quotient. Volkswagen plans to assemble the new Passat at its manufacturing unit in India which will help to cut on the price.
The Jetta facelift will again be made available in domestic market by early next year. Underpinning the PQ35 platform, the saloon sports tweaks on the exterior and interior front, engine set up has been retained, however the engines have also been revised to offer higher power output. The saloon is already up for sale in several markets,
The third premium vehicle heading to India is the new Beetle. The Beetle will be brought to India as a completely built unit, and is expected to carry a price tag of Rs 20 lakh. Power will come from a 2.0 litre TDI turbo diesel engine that engenders a maximum power output of 140 Bhp along with peak torque of 320 Nm.
