Volkswagen has released a new teaser video for its upcoming compact sedan “ICS”. Rumoured to be called the Ameo or Bora, the new Volkswagen compact sedan will be competing against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Ford Figo Aspire, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze and the Tata Zest. This is the German automaker’s first product that has been tailor-made for Indian car buyers.
Volkswagen will unveil the compact sedan and its name at the upcoming Auto Expo on 3rd of February in Greater Noida. The new Volkswagen compact sedan will be based on the Polo platform and it will be priced below the Vento. The Volkswagen ICS will get similar interiors to the Polo and the Vento. However, it will get some additional features like a touchscreen system and daytime running LEDs to name a couple.
The Volkswagen compact sedan will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, both borrowed from the Polo. And as is the case with the Polo, there will be an automatic version for the petrol as well. The diesel might be offered with an automatic as well. The compact sedan will have the wheelbase of the Polo with a small-ish boot to keep the sedan under 4-metres.
