The German car maker, Volkswagen, is ready to launch its new car in India next year. Volkswagen will launch the next generation Polo in 2009. The new Polo 2009 will make it to India with a new style inspired from the scintillating Scirocco, a three door coupe. This mean India will have a more upbeat model of Volkswagen car that is being manufactured by the company since 1975.

The new car will be built on popular PQ25 platform which is same as the previous generation Polo but will come with a 2470mm wheelbase. VW will build a new saloon variant around the new Polo and this saloon variant of the new Polo will be exclusively made for India and Russia.

VW Polo will compete with Maruti Swift, Hyundai Getz and the new Tata Indica. The new Polo has been developed by the company internally for the Indian market and will be produced at its Pune plant. The new plant will boast of an initial capacity of 110,000 units by 2009. The company will go for the B segment of the car market in India which is the largest car market segment in the country, says VW official spokesperson.
