The new avatar of Volkswagen Polo is expected to launch in India by mid 2014. The hatchback has also been spotted couple of times undergoing test runs in India which hints that the launch will happen soon. Details regarding the 2014 Polo hatchback have been leaked, the new Polo is expected to don multiple changes in the front like a new bumper, restyled fog lights which are likely to be connected via a chrome element and horizontal shaped structures for the airdam. Besides this, new Polo could also be seen with a single chrome front grille instead of the double chrome strip which the outgoing model is affixed with.
2014 Polo which will be seen in international markets gets new mirror housings and could also get LED lights as optional feature. To cut on the price, India bound Polo could miss out on LED lights and is also expected to be equipped with head lamps which the outgoing version of Europe bound Polo was equipped with. No changes will be made to the profile of the tweaked version of Polo. Other features like alloy wheels, side indicators are also likely to remain intact.
Mechanically, no changes will be made to the petrol variant of Polo and will continue to be offered in two engine options- a 1.2 litre, three pot naturally aspirated gasoline engine and a 1.2 litre, four cylinder, TSI motor. However, the diesel powered Polo will come with a new engine, a 1.5 litre diesel powertrain that promises less noise and enhanced efficiency. The current Polo diesel is offered in two engine options in India including a 1.2 litre, three cylinder motor and a 1.6 litre four cylinder motor which will be replaced by the new 1.5 litre diesel mills.
