Volkswagen has announced the name of its much awaited Indian compact sedan as ‘Volkswagen Ameo’. Volkswagen Ameo will see its world premiere at the 13th edition of Delhi Auto Expo and will be on display at the Volkswagen Pavilion during the press & public days of exposition.
This is the new compact sedan from the German automaker that has been tailored only for the Indian car market. The name Ameo has been derived from the Latin word ‘Amo’, that means ‘I love’. Volkswagen claims that the Ameo is an unique offering that combines the brand values of best-in-class safety features, build quality and a great driving experience. This compact sedan will be competing with the Maruti Suzuki DZire, Ford Figo Aspire, Hyundai XCent and Tata Zest.
The Volkswagen Ameo has been designed specifically for the Indian market, and will be manufactured at the company’s Chakan facility.The Ameo will be launched sometime in early 2016 itself and Volkswagen will be pricing it at about Rs 4.5 lakhs to Rs 8.5 lakhs (ex-showroom pricing). The Volkswagen Ameo will get several additional features like daytime running LEDs, touchscreen infotainment system and even bluetooth connectivity.
