      Volkswagen likely to announce 1 lakh diesel car recall in India

      The Volkswagen emission scandal has witnessed global on a global level. As per sources from Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), around 1,00,000 diesel powered engines may be affected and could be recalled by the company. In India, the EA 189 TDI engine available in 1.2-litre, 1.5-litre, 1.6-litre, and 2.0-litre options had the defeat device software installed in them.

      In UK, the company has announced 1.2 Million vehicles. The company has arranged three-stage recall and would be fixed by the end of 2016. The 1.6-litre diesel engine would require new injectors along with a software fix, while the 1.2-litre and 2.0-litre diesel engines would require a software fix. The probe also noted that the defeat device were mainly used Jetta and Passat sedans in the global market.

      The engines in question in Indian market has also been reportedly used in Skoda and Audi models in the country. The company is yet to officially confirm the same and the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) may soon put light in detail about the scenario.
