German automaker Volkswagen has witnessed a record delivery of 148 cars across Kerala on the first day of Malayalam New Year, Chingam. The automaker has got off to a good start at the beginning of the festive season of Onam. Additionally, Volkswagen Kochi has delivered about 40 cars in one day, thereby achieving a new milestone which marks the highest ever bulk delivery done from a single outlet on a single day.
Speaking more about it, Mr. Michael Mayer, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, “Kerala continues to be an important market for Volkswagen and the custom of celebrating the festive season in a unique way further motivates us to make great effort towards enhancing customer delight. We are happy to be a part of such an auspicious occasion in our customer’s life.”
Earlier this year Volkswagen had launched the Ameo sedan in petrol variant in the country. However, diesel test mules of the Ameo have been spotted on numerous occasions thereby hinting on its possible launch sometime soon. The Ameo diesel trim is expected to be powered by a reworked 1.5-litre unit which might generate about 108bhp of power and 230Nm of torque. Post its launch, we can expect to see a further boost in overall sales numbers. The launch of diesel option indicates the automaker’s plan to strengthen its position in the entry level segment.
