Volkswagen Group India has recently laid the foundation stone for its first Regional Training Centre in association with Rayat Bahra Group at its Centre of Excellence campus in Mohali. The inauguration of the training centre would help in allowing the training facilities for Volkswagen Group dealerships to expand its arena. This training programme targets to create awareness regarding the transfer of knowledge on the latest Volkswagen automotive technologies among the employees of its dealerships.

As a part of the process and operations, Volkswagen Group India has made available plethora of quality tools and equipment for training. Regional Training Centre would be responsible for conducting different technical training programmes for its dealership employees. The training centre of the carmaker, for the dealership category employees, is already functional at the Volkswagen plant in Chakan, Pune and now Mohali is also on the list. Presently, it is providing the training programme under Skoda India Private Limited in Aurangabad.

Maik Stephan, Managing Director, Volkswagen Group Sales India Private Limited communicated the importance of such training centres. On the eve of the inaugural ceremony, he was quoted as saying, “The ever growing auto industry has made it imperative for good resources to be present in the industry. The Regional Training Centre will enable us to provide quality manpower at our dealerships which will lead to enhanced customer satisfaction. We have a network of over 160 dealers across the country that will benefit from this programme”.

Furthermore, the company plans to offer training sessions to disseminate the basic as well as core information about the latest Volkswagen automotive technologies to University lecturers. The lecturers, in turn, would pass on the knowledge gained to their students. Such a move would enable students to make optimal use of the opportunity. Students have the scope to attain experience of working on latest technology in the auto industry. It would then be easier for the students to get hold of things, when they work on cross sections of Volkswagen vehicle engines.

During the starting phase, 16 to 20 students per batch are believed to be enrolled. The centre will also provide a VG-TAP certificate course for diploma students and ITI students studying at the university. While addressing the media during the press conference, Chairman of Rayat and Bahra Group, Gurvinder Singh Bahra said that “the initiative would generate employment opportunities for the students in the automobile sector.”

Altogether, it is a great opportunity not only for the leader of automobile industry, Volkswagen, but also for aspiring students who dream to make it big in the automobile sector someday.
