This concept car is powered by a 125 Kw electric motor which is mated to a single-speed transmission powering the rear wheels. In production guise, it is expected to be offered with multiple battery capacities in the ranges of 401km and 600km on the European charge cycle. The 0-100kmph times is under 8 seconds and top-speed is 159kmph. It is expected to come loaded to the gills with driving aids, safety programmes and the option for autonomous driving which can be activated by pressing the VW logo on the steering.

In terms of design, the automaker has stuck to all of its standard design hallmarks with the car resembling a cross between the Golf and the Up! It gets adaptive LED lights and a swoopy and smooth design without a large gaping grille thanks to its electric nature.  Inside, the cabin design is minimalistic with just a few physical buttons. There are individual screens for four passengers and the rear doors slide back rather than opening out.

The I.D concept is a preview of what our hatchbacks will be like in the future as well what we can expect from the boys at Wolfsburg in terms of technological progress.
