Volkswagen is currently busy recalling and fixing cars affected in the mega diesel emissions scandal that went public last year. Having fixed about 50,000 vehicles out of the total 8.5 million affected in Europe up until now, VW has revealed that it has received approval to fix another 460,000 affected vehicles.

The diesel-gate fiasco has ultimately affected millions of vehicles in the US and Europe. In order to set things right and regain assurance among its customers, VW dealers have started fixing the affected cars.

Dealers have already attended around 50,000 diesel vehicles across Europe since the start of this year. VW is hoping to fix most of the affected cars within 2016. That said, there would still be cars that would not be fixed until 2017 given that that VW still hasn’t got hold of the technical fixes for cars affected in the US. The company is presently testing hardware and software fixes that could help it avoid the pain of buying back around 475,000 cars in the US.
