The Indian arm of Volkswagen, German automotive manufacturer and the original and biggest-selling marque of the Volkswagen (VW) Group, launched a new revamped version of its Touareg Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in the Indian passenger car market on September 27, 2012. The company has planned to initially retail the new SUV via the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route in the auto market of the country. The 2013 Volkswagen Touareg features a brand new platform and comes trimmed with an array of new refined comfort and convenience attributes along with a more mannish exterior appearance.
The company has tagged the new face-lifted SUV with a starting price of Rs. 58.5 lacs (ex-showroom price in New Delhi) for its base model in the Indian SUV segment. The 2013 Touareg SUV was unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo held in New Delhi and the Indian car enthusiasts can now book the new SUV across all the Volkswagen stores in the country. The company has affirmed that the deliveries of the first batch of the new SUV will begin around first week of October 2012.

Coming to under the hood specifications, the 2013 Volkswagen Touareg SUV has been assimilated with a giant 3.0 litre V6 Tdi diesel powertrain, which churns out a maximum power of 243 bhp and delivers a whopping torque of 550 Nm. The impressive power-mill is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission system, besides the German auto maker has also installed a 'Start-Stop' function that ensures superior fuel economy.
The exterior appearance of the reworked Volkswagen Touareg looks nasty and mean while underlining the vehicle's dominance on any kind of terrain. The latest offering from the stables of the German auto maker has been laced with revised front fog lamps, fixed bending lights, roof-rails, continuously lit LED lights along with a panoramic sunroof, all of which puts the premium offering in line with the best-in-class products in the segment.
