Volkswagen customers have a new reason to cheer about. The company has announced an extended warranty of up to 7 years/1,25,000kms across all models. Only cars which have been regularly serviced at the company facility are not more than seven years old and have an odometer reading not over 1,25,000kms can avail the add-on warranty benefits. The add-on warranty covers vital points such as engine parts, manual and automatic gearboxes, fuel system, braking system, Air conditioning system, electrical system, diesel injection system and oil seals.
Currently, the company offers a standard two years warranty across all models with 3/4/5 year extended warranty packages. Interestingly, customers can also opt for an add-on one year / 20,000kms warranty. Under the company terms, customers can opt for the one-year add-on warranty 30 days prior to the expiry of a valid warranty or up to 15 days after the warranty has expired.
In case of a change in ownership for the vehicle, the remaining/balance Add-on warranty period/Km would be effective for the new owner as well. The owner of the vehicle will have to fill in the Transfer of Ownership form with details of the new owner and have it stamped and signed by an authorized dealer. However, the add-on warranty cannot be transferred to any other vehicle and it stays with the original vehicle.
