The Volkswagen’s Ameo has been drawing a lot of attention in the compact sedan segment ahead of its official debut in India. As revealed by sources, Volkswagen has been planning on introducing a 1.5-liter TDI engine in the upcoming Ameo. This would mean that the vehicle may generate an additional 2bhp and 10 Nm of torque over the current expected figures. The 1.5-liter TDI engine comes as a replacement to the company’s bigger 1.6-liter TDI engine that serves the Polo GT and Vento generating about 104bhp of power, while the regular Polo generates about 89bhp.
The VW Ameo with 1.5-litre TDI engine that may come mated to 5-speed manual gearbox or 7-speed DSG gearbox could generate about slightly higher power and torque figures than the current engines. The petrol trim could however be offered with a 1.32-litre engine that may come mated to 5-speed manual transmission option for now, while AMT could be introduced at a later date. The Volkswagen’s Ameo is expected to be launch sometime in second half of this year and it is likely to be priced around 6.5-10 Lakh range.
