Volkswagen’s very own sub-compact SUV named Ameo is all set for its official launch on 2nd February, 2016. The vehicle is expected to emerge as a tough competitor against the likes of Maruti Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest and Figo Aspire in the country. The pricing aspect is unknown for now but based on anticipation, it is believed that Volkswagen Ameo could be priced between Rs 5-7 lakhs.
Under the hood the Volkswagen Ameo would be offered with 1.2-litre MPI petrol, while the diesel trim could be powered by a 1.5-litre TDI engine. The engines may likely be offered in 5-speed manual option for now, while popular 7-speed DSG gearbox may be introduced at a later date. In terms of features, the vehicle may be offered with touchscreen infotainment system, daytime running LEDs and Bluetooth connectivity. On the design aspect, the vehicle seems to have borrowed some cues from the Polo hatchback and the Vento sedan. More details about the vehicle shall be known at the time of its official unveiling.
