Vespa has launched a new 70th Anniversary Edition scooter priced at Rs 96,500 (ex-showroom, Pune). Based on the Vespa VXL 150, this limited edition scooter has been launched to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Italian marque.
The Vespa 70th Anniversary Edition is a feature-loaded scooter which is offered with a host of accessories to set it apart from a standard VXL. The round headlamp and mirrors and classic body lines hark back to the retro Vespa scooters of the 1960s. It is painted in a bright Azurro 70 paint scheme which is unique to this scooter. It is offered customised with a chrome luggage rack, brown leather seat, fly screen, perimeter guard and a ‘70’ badge.
The Vespa 70th Anniversary Edition is built around a monocoque chassis with steel body construction. It is powered by the same 150cc three-valve single-cylinder engine used in the SXL 150 and the VXL 150. This engine delivers 11.4bhp and 11.5Nm of torque through a CVT transmission. It rides on 11-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels. The front wheel gets a 200mm disc brake while the rear gets a 140mm drum unit.
The Vespa 70th Anniversary Edition is the most expensive 150cc scooter on sale in India. It doesn’t face any competition apart from its own stable mates – the VXL 150 and the SXL 150.
