      This festive season, auto makers are leaving no stone unturned to attract buyers and subsequently, register excellent sales figures. Although the situation at present is not that favourable, companies are hoping that Diwali will bring a change in their fortunes and things will become much better. Volkswagen, the German car maker, has been pretty active in the Indian car market in recent times. It has introduced a number of models in past months and on 30th October, Volkswagen added another launch to its name. The leading German giant introduced an upgraded version of executive sedan Jetta. According to sources, this car has a price range of Rs. 13.7 to Rs. 19.43 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

      Several company officials were present at the launch of this car, who spoke about its prospects. Among these executives was Arvind Saxena, Managing Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, who was pretty excited about the launch of this car. "We are sure that the new Jetta, with its range of petrol and diesel engine options and optional 6-speed DSG automatic transmission, will offer a delightful driving experience for premium-segment car buyers in the Indian market," he was quoted as saying. By launching the upgraded Jetta, the Volkswagen has completed its line-up of upgraded versions of cars. This car was launched after the introduction of new versions of Polo, Polo GT TSI, Polo GT TDI, Vento TSI and Cross Polo.

      Volkswagen, the German car maker, is quite new in India as compared to other companies. Considering this fact, it has managed to perform really well in the country's car market. An internationally acclaimed firm, Volkswagen has managed to carve a niche for itself in India. Cars from this firm are known for their comfortable interiors, superior engine performance and power levels. Polo hatchback is its most successful model, which has found a liking among buyers and critics alike. Rumours have surfaced that Volkswagen, continuing its good work, is going to launch the Golf hatchback in coming times.

      Volkswagen has added a number of features in the upgraded version of Jetta in order to make it more appealing. This car is going to come equipped with Xenon headlamps with washers, 16-inch alloy wheels and LED daytime running lights. Other additions made to this sedan are dual-zone climatronic AC, 60:40 folding rear seat and 12-way electrically adjustable driver's seat. Technology is one of the key aspects of this new sedan and convenience buyers has been kept in mind by including front- and rear-mounted proximity sensors, cruise control, Bluetooth compatible music system and digital instrument panel with multi-function display (MFD).

      According to sources, no changes have been made as far as the mechanical configuration of this car are concerned. Volkswagen Jetta comes in two engine options, one diesel and one petrol. Diesel version of this sedan is runs on a 2.0-litre engine that comes in both manual and DSG automatic transmission options. Jetta diesel has a maximum output level of 140 bhp along with peak torque of 320 Nm. Also, the diesel variant of this Volkswagen sedan delivers ARAI certified mileage fuel economy rates of 19.33 kmpl (manual) and 16.96 kmpl (automatic). On the other hand, petrol version of Jetta runs on a 1.4-litre engine that generates 122 bhp of power, 200 Nm of torque and 14.69 kmpl mileage.
