German luxury car giant Mercedes-Benz has started 2015 with a bang with the launch of an upgraded version of B-Class. The brand with the three-pointed star has been aggressive in the past few years and the firm will be continuing the spree by launching 15 models in 2015. Two trims of Mercedes-Benz B-Class series, B180 Sport and B200 CDI Sport, were launched in Mumbai at prices of INR 27.95 lakh and INR 28.95 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom).

Mercedes-Benz has launched both petrol and diesel versions of the B-Class. Eberhard Kern, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Mercedes-Benz India, was also present at the launch event along with other big names from the industry, which also witnessed the unveiling of updated A-Class.

Speaking at the event, he said, “We pioneered luxury touring in India with the B-Class and this paved the way for our success in the segment. The popular A-Class has an India-specific suspension that enhances driving comfort. The new generation cars [A-Class and B-Class] play a significant role in our product strategy and in 2014, accounted for 20 per cent of our sales and will continue to grow.’’

The year 2014 was fantastic for Mercedes-Benz in India, selling 10201 units and recording a growth of 13 per cent. “With the doubling of capacity at Pune to 20,000 units per annum, we are also making the CLA, our sixth product in India. No doubt, more products will follow,’’ Kern further added.

Mercedes-Benz B-Class carries a dynamic look with the front section of this car characterised by its sportily designed bumper featuring a soft-nose design. The main highlights of the exterior include wide radiator trim with a diamond grille that compliments the large Mercedes-Benz star badge. Also, the vehicle features chrome inserts around radiator twin louvres. Interiors of Mercedes-Benz B-Class features generous legroom for rear passengers, large-spaced luggage compartment, four-way lumbar support for driver and a panoramic sunroof.
