Nissan has been spied testing the Kicks in India ahead of its official debut in the country, sometime early in 2019. Available in the international market for quite some time now, it is expected to emerge as a strong competitor in the premium SUV segment. The Indian-spec model however is expected to be slightly different from the international spec model. Post-launch in India, it will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Captur.
Although the heavily camouflaged version does not reveal much about the vehicle. We expect to see upgrades in the form of a revised rear door frame and tweaked alloy wheel design. The Kicks is expected to share a platform with the Captur, Duster and the Terrano. It is believed that the higher-spec variant will be offered in a contrast paint scheme. The interior bits are however expected to be shared with the international spec model.
Mechanically, the upcoming Nissan Kicks is expected to be offered with the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options as the Nissan Terrano, Renault Duster and the Renault Captur. The diesel version is limited to a five-speed manual transmission while the petrol gets a six-speed and an automatic transmission option.
