As the Indian car market is abuzz with the development that Honda is planning to launch the next-generation version of City sedan, experts are putting high stakes on the good show of the car. Going by reports, the flagship sedan of Honda might be introduced in both petrol and diesel versions in India. With its availability in diesel and petrol, a few would doubt the fact that the car poses a huge potential to turn the market on its own. Reports have suggested that the new Honda City will be unveiled in November 2013, which will be shortly followed by its launch.

Now with Honda City diesel presumed to arrive in Indian car market, it is expected to give tough competition against the likes of Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid. The diesel version of City is expected to be powered by the same 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine of Amaze but in different tuned outputs. It is being said that diesel mill of Honda City would come equipped with a Variable Geometry Turbo that might render the engine to give away a top power output of 120 bhp and a peak torque of 225 Nm. On the other hand, the petrol version of Honda City would be powered by the i-VTEC engine. Reportedly, Honda would be offering technical advancements in this engine in order to extract better mileage and performance from the car.

The upcoming car of Honda has generated an enormous amount of talk in the Indian car market. It is being said that dealers have already started taking unofficial bookings of the car wherein the amount needed for booking the vehicle varies from Rs. 50000 to Rs. 1 lakh. However, dealers are holding onto to the view that the delivery procedure cannot be started until January 2014. As told by sources, the upcoming Honda City would be available in six to eight variants comprising both fuel options. Also to mention, Honda is likely to give away an automatic transmission trim in the petrol version of City.

As told by sources, Honda City would be bigger in shape and size as compared to the incumbent model. The reason cited behind this development is that Honda would be aiming to fill in the void left since the discontinuation of Civic model in India. Owing to this, Honda would be giving away premium equipment in its upcoming City thereby the price is expected to further increase.

The i-DTEC engine of Honda has been praised by many car experts for its refined performance that matches the expectations of the car consumers in India. So it is expected that Honda City diesel would be the main catalyst in driving the sales for the company as the response meted out to Amaze clearly reflects the same. A thing to mention here is that the sales of Honda Amaze has accounted for 35000 units since its launch in April 2013.

According to insiders, the company is aiming to gain large volumes in the Indian car market as it recorded a 69 per cent growth in April to September period with 59617 units being sold. As the entry-level segment has been completely overturned by Honda with its Amaze model, the same is expected for mid-size segment once diesel City makes its debut.
