Mercedes-Benz’s premium hatchback offering, the A-Class is a fairly young product, however, its replacement is already under tests. Codenamed W177, this new generation model which will be built on an all-new platform has been recently caught on test.
Size wise, the next-gen A-Class will remain more or less the same but will follow a new design language with a larger front grille and fancier looking headlights. It will also get a load of new technologies like adaptive cruise control and perhaps even semi-autonomous driving mode.
Like the current model, the next-gen A-Class will be offered with a range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines with both manual and automatic gearbox options. The current-gen A-Class signified a major step forward for Mercedes and has attracted a huge chunk of young buyers globally.
The next-gen A-Class is expected to make its global debut by the end of 2017, probably at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It will compete with other premium hatchbacks like the BMW 1 Series and the Volvo V40.
