Triumph has launched the Street Scrambler in India at Rs 8.1 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Street Scrambler is the latest addition to Triumph’s family of modern classics, and is based on the Street Twin.

The Street Scrambler is based on the Street Twin’s frame, but features slight modifications to accommodate the new seat and exhaust. It also uses the Street Twin’s 900cc parallel twin engine which produces 54bhp and 80Nm of torque. The tuning however, has been revised to offer more power in the mid-range. The engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox.

The suspension setup is again similar to the Street Twin, with extra travel for the front forks and rear shocks. The wheelbase is also slightly shorter and should improve the bike’s agility. It gets a switchable ABS and traction control as standard. The Street Scrambler rides on spoke wheels and features a bash plate.

It is offered in three paint schemes – black, matte green and red/silver. It rivals against the Ducati Scrambler Urban Enduro.
