Triumph, the Britain-based iconic Motorcycle maker, seems all prepared to enter the Indian auto market in November this year. Along with declaring its entry in the country, the company announced the appointment of Vimal Sumbly as its Managing Director, who will lead the Indian operations of Triumph. In the initial stages, the auto maker is expected to bring in the models like Bonneville, Daytona 675 and Rocket, and thereafter will add more bikes to its Indian product portfolio.
Expressing his views over the significance of Indian market for Triumph, the Director Sales and Marketing (Global), Paul Stroud was quoted as saying, “2013 is a very crucial year for Triumph Motorcycles in India and as a company, we are confident about the timing of our market entry. In the past few months, we have carefully assessed the market landscape and will be making well-honed efforts to provide our discerning customers with a complete brand experience.”
Sources close to the development process stated that the company is also planning to start local assembly of some models at the Manesar plant, which is soon expected to start its operations. Meanwhile, Triumph is presently looking for dealers, based across strategic locations of the country. It must be noted that before joining Triumph, Sumbly was heading the position of General Manager Sales at Bajaj Auto Limited. He holds a vast expertise of around 16 years in the auto space. Triumph Motorcycles was established in 1902, and has successfully completed over 110 years of its operation in the global arena. Reportedly, Triumph happens to be the largest British motorcycle maker and it sells more than 50,000 units every year. Also, the company has over 750 official dealerships all across the globe.
