Japanese automaker Toyota has been quite popular in the Indian market owing to it successful sellers like Corolla, Innova and Fortuner in the country. In near future, the company has been planning on launching three new models – Vios sedan, new Innova and the new Fortuner. The company is expected to launch the new models sometime next year.
The Vios sedan from Toyota has been on the waiting list for quite sometime now. The mid-sized sedan has been performing well in terms of sales across South East Asian market and is also expected to generate good numbers once launched in India. The upcoming sedan may be offered with 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.4-litre D-4D diesel engine. In terms of efficiency, the vehicle is likely to deliver about 15 km/l in petrol, whereas the diesel trim is expected to return about 20 km/l. The interiors for upcoming Vios is expected to feature a dual tone black-beige combination along with interesting feature like touchscreen infotainment system and ample interior space.
The 2016 Toyota Innova is indeed a visual treat and shall be offered as a completely new package in its segment. Apart from the completely new design, the upcoming Innova is also expected to feature a completely new diesel engine. The 2016 trim is likely to be powered by 2.4-litre ‘GD’ engine that is capable of generating about 148bhp of power with 400Nm of torque. The new Innova will be offered with a six-speed automatic and manual transmission options. It will be a lot more feature loaded and luxurious as compared to the current generation. As for safety, apart from the standard front air bag systems, the vehicle shall also get additional safety features like side and curtain airbags and new Vehicle Stability Management system. In terms of design, the vehicle gets slightly longer body design and more comfortable interior space.
The upcoming Fortuner from Toyota indeed carries an aggressive stance like never before. The time tested SUV is likely to be offered in two engine options – 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that is capable of generating about 148bhp of power with 343Nm of torque. Whereas, the bigger 2.8-litre diesel engine is capable of generating two different power outputs - 177bhp of power with 420Nm of torque for five-speed manual transmission, and 177bhp of power with 450Nm of torque for six-speed automatic transmission. For the interiors, the vehicle gets a new centre console with a touchscreen system and blends well with a newly styled cabin theme.
The expected 2016 line-up of three new brilliant machines from Toyota is indeed expected to further strengthen the brand's presence in India. The upcoming models are powerful, efficient and more feature loaded, at the same time Toyota will be working on increasing the localization to keep the cost similar.
