Toyota Innova Crysta Vs Mahindra XUV500

The new Innova Crysta has helped Toyota maintain growth in their sales numbers. The carmaker sold 7,800 units of the MPV in July 2016, as against 5,449 units last year.
The Innova’s sales numbers account for a major chunk of their domestic sales. Toyota sold 12,404 vehicles in India last month as against 12,070 cars that were sold in the same period last year. This shows a 2.76 per cent rise in domestic sales, which could have been worse had the new Innova's sales figures not helped the overall sales.
N Raja, Senior Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, said, "We had to shut down production at our Bidadi plant on July 30 on account of Karnataka bandh in the absence of which our growth would have been more in terms of sales. Although the new Innova Crysta has been doing well, the ban on registration of diesel vehicles has stalled the extent of growth."
The ban on registration of new diesel vehicles over 2000cc to curb pollution in New Delhi has affected Toyota the most. However, good news is that Toyota has been able to introduce the Innova Crysta in the Delhi-NCR region as the petrol variant has joined their line-up. At present, prospective buyers have to wait for two months to get their delivery of their petrol Innova. Let us hope the manufacturer brings its sales act together to shorten the waiting period and prepare for the demand of both models now.
