Japanese car manufacturer Toyota has revealed the exterior design and Japan pricing of its hydrogen fuel cell sedan. First unveiled at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, the car will go on sale in Japan by early next year. The Fuel Cell sedan will also be launched in the US and European nations by the second half of 2015.
In Japan, the fuel cell sedan is priced at approximately 7 million yen (INR 41.32 lakh). Initially, sales will be limited to regions1 where hydrogen refueling infrastructure is being developed. Toyota’s environment friendly vehicles are based on three basic principles: embracing diverse energy sources; developing efficient, low-emission vehicles; and driving real and positive environmental change by popularizing these vehicles.
Hydrogen is a promising alternative fuel as it can be produced using a range of primary energy sources, including solar and wind power. The fuel cell sedan features performance similar to a gasoline engine vehicle with a cruising range of approximately 700km and a refueling time of roughly three minutes.
