Toyota has officially revealed the new C-HR concept days ahead of its official public exhibition scheduled for first day of 2014 Paris Motor Show (October 2nd). The new C-HR concept is a C segment crossover that is yet in development stage. Test mule of the prototype has been caught on camera a couple of times and is likely to make debut next year. With the C-HR concept, Toyota has also unveiled its updated design language with a diamond theme that will be bestowed on its upcoming cars in future. Front fascia gets a distinctive grille flanked by revolutionary narrow head lamps that comes integrated with vertical strips of daytime running lights equipped with lighting technology.
Side profile gets the athletic wheel arches with plastic body cladding and large sized wheels that are usually seen in concepts. Rear on the other hand features distinctive boomerang-like LED tail lamps. Suspension set up has been placed a tad high, under the bonnet is a hybrid engine though details are yet not out on the engine specifications. The concept version revealed featured three-door layout, however it is likely that the production version will be offered in five-door body style.
It is expected that Toyota will position this crossover in Auris family and could name it “Auris Cross”. For global markets, Toyota could position the crossover beneath RAV4, as for the Indian market, there is yet no confirmation if Toyota will bring it to India. However, looking at the growing demand for compact crossovers in domestic market Toyota may mull to launch it in India. If brought to India, the crossover will rival Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming S-Cross.
It will be positioned below the RAV4 and will likely adopt a five-door configuration as opposed to the concept's three-door layout.
