      Toyota Plans to Launch CNG Innova

      The Japanese car maker, Toyota Motor Corp, is planning to launch a new CNG variant of its popular MPV Innova in India. The CNG version of Innova will be available in India by end February 2009. The Innova CNG variant will be Rs. 75000 to 90,000 more expensive than its petrol version currently available the Indian market. The new price will be inclusive of warranty and installation costs.

      Innova is one of the most successful models in India that sings a beautiful success story to the company in India. Launching of the new CNG version will also make the Toyota model more attractive and equally competitive with its latest competitor Mahindra Xylo.

      Toyota will tie up with Minda Industries in India to provide the CNG kits. It is the same company that provides original equipments to Hyundai for its popular model Santro. It also provides equipments to Maruti Suzuki for its LPG based WagonR Duo. According to the industry sources, TKM is targeting to tap the huge commercial sector of tour operators and fleet owners by introducing vehicles running on CNG fuel. Toyota Kirloskar Motors is all set to bank upon the high-demand of CNG vehicles.
