Toyota has revealed its latest saloon to match BMW 5-series model, while it is way cheaper than the existing BMW models and yet it has all the features of existing 5-series saloons. Toyota has offered the Mark X since 2004 and this sedan has shared much of its architecture with the Lexus GS and IS – including its rear- and all-wheel drive configurations. For 2010, the Mark X has come in for a freshening for the company as well as the customers.

The slick-looking four-door utilizes a rear-wheel drive setup and a choice of two engines - a 2.5L or 3.5L V-6. Both motors are mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox and are said to be quite powerful and fuel efficient. Officials are quick to point out the 2.5L as the one that qualifies for Japanese government incentives and subsidies because of its fuel efficiency. It can also propel the sedan to 100 kmph in 8.4 sec. Fuel consumption is rated at 13.0km/l (10-15 test cycle) for the 2.5 liter V6 (two wheel drive) and 10.2km/l for the 3.5 liter V6.

Inside, there is a leather-covered steering wheel, improved seat comfort, driver’s seat with motorized lumbar support function that shifts the seatback forward or back to improve back comfort during driving, a multi-information display, fully automatic independent temperature controls for the driver and passenger sides as well as Plasmacluster Ions technology that helps combat bacteria.
