Toyota Land Cruiser Kicks Off!

The Toyota Land Cruiser was launched in India recently amidst great fanfare at The Grand Hyatt in Mumbai. This monster SUV is priced in a range of Rs. 81 lakhs to Rs. 83.64 lakhs ex-showroom, Mumbai. But it does not seem that the hefty price tag will keep Indian luxury car buyers at bay. The ceremony was attended by quite number of luxury car buyers and since then the car has been well appreciated in the segment.

This is the eight generation model of Land Cruiser and an impressive one it is. The Toyota company has now started its different promotions for the car, and you will definitely be hearing about it all over.

As the chief engineer of Land Cruiser, Sadayoshi Koyari states, “For more than 50 years now three key words have been the basis of each generation of Land Cruiser: strength, durability and reliability. Therefore, rather than opting for revolutionary change, we decided to carry on the sense of trust in the Land Cruiser as the basic concept. With the latest generation we had to recognise the loyalty of Land Cruiser customers by providing a vehicle that will not betray their trust." This passenger vehicle is testimony to the words stated by Koyari.

The Toyota Land Cruiser is powered by a 4500cc V8 engine that delivers a power of 285bhp and torque of 650NM from 1600 to 2800rpm. It has a 4 wheel drive and 6-speed auto transmission which gives a mileage of 10.2 kmpl. This Japanese SUV is imported as a completely built unit from Japan and the company does not have any manufacturing set up for the SUV in India. Toyota’s existing plant near Bangalore manufactures Corolla Altis and Innova models.

The company describes the car as the “King of SUVs” in India as it has the most powerful engine in its class. Its performance is enhanced by the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System. This ensures a long suspension stroke and on-road stability. Further, the hydraulic pressure system, linked to the front and rear stabilizers, suppresses rolling of the body even at high speeds.
