The new Toyota Innova Crysta earned an overall 4-Star rating due to lack in ESC as a standard option, but scored 76 percent in Child Occupant Protection (COP). To qualify for 5-star safety rating, it is important that the vehicle must offer Electronic Stability Control (ESC) that is covered under Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category.

The newly introduced Toyota Innova Crysta has been offered in 2.5-litre GD diesel engine that generates about 147bhp of power and 342Nm of torque in 5-speed manual transmission, while the 6-speed automatic generates about 360Nm of torque. In view of new government norms pertaining to sale of diesel cars with engines over 2.0-litres, the company may likely introduce a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine option at a later date that may generate about 137bhp of power and 183Nm of torque.
