Toyota will start bookings for its upcoming model Etios from December first week. It is official that the company will introduce its sedan variant prior to its small hatchback model. The deliveries for the model will be begin from January 2011. Toyota is aiming at sale figures of 65,000 unit next year. “We have decided to launch Etios next month in Bangalore and will start bookings in the first week of December,” Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s Managing Director Hiroshi Nakagawa said.
The Etios hatch will be powered by a 1.2-liter petrol engine and the sedan will have in it a bigger 1.5-liter petrol unit. There are no chances of the diesel variant in 2011 on both the forms.
The hatchback model will be launched three-months after the launch of the sedan model. "Etios is a small car which we have never developed earlier. It is specifically made for India. We expect it would be a game-changer for us," he said, adding "Etios has been a challenge for us to build a car at a lower price."
Toyota has signed AR Rahman as its brand ambassador for Toyota Etios who has also composed the signature music for the model launch.
