Toyota India is doing the final preparation before launching tweaked Corolla premium sedan in the domestic market. Exhibited at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show earlier in February, Corolla is one of the most anticipated premium saloon scheduled to launch this year. Speculations suggest that Toyota will be launching new Corolla in India by the end of this month. Including petrol and diesel variants, a total of nine trims will be put on offer. Toyota has not made any changes in the engine set, the five petrol variants will continue be powered with the same 1.8 litre, four cylinder, Dual VVT-i engine that belts out a maximum power of 140 PS at 6,400 RPM along with a top torque of 173 Nm at 4,000 RPM. Along with a six speed manual transmission, there is a possibility of offering a revised CVT tranny borrowed from Lexus in the petrol powered Corolla.
Diesel variants of new Corolla will come packed with a 1.4 litre, four cylinder, diesel engine capable of developing a pinnacle power of 88.4 PS at 3,800 RPM and a maximum torque of 205 Nm between 1,800-2,800 RPM. The diesel engine will be paired to a six-speed manual transmission.
The renewed premium sedan from Japanese auto maker’s stable will be equipped well with features. Safety features offered as standard in petrol line-up of Corolla facelift include dual front airbags, Anti Lock Braking System and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution. On the other hand features exquisite to high end petrol trims comprise of LED head lights, foglights, auto wipers, keyless entry with push start button, leather seats and a 7-inch display with reverse camera. Besides the forenamed features, automatic variant is likely to get additional features like cruise control and navigation.
Diesel line-up will also be offered with dual front airbags, auto climate control, ABS and EBD as standard features. High end version will be loaded with additional features like LED headlights, keyless entry with a starter button, leather seats and 7-inch display with reverse camera.
