The Toyota Corolla was due for a mid-life refresh and the manufacturer has now updated the sedan. The official images reveal all the exterior changes to the car.

This updated Corolla looks like the Japanese spec that was unveiled earlier. The changes up front include a redesigned headlamp, which boasts of a chrome embellishment that runs into the front grille giving the fascia a wider look. A wide chrome strip can be seen running towards both ends on the modified front bumper. The alloys also get a new design pattern. The rear section features a redesigned tail lamp cluster with a chrome strip.

Though the changes in the cabin are not visible through these images, the revised styling will be complemented with added equipment in the cabin of the car. This includes LDA – Lane Departure Alert, PCS – Pre-Collision System and AHB – Automatic High Beam.

There won’t be any changes to the powertrain and the same engine line-up from the existing car will continue. The petrol version will get the 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol mill with VVT-i that produces 138bhp of power and 173Nm of torque. The diesel version will be powered by the four-cylinder 1.4-litre diesel engine that churns out 88.4bhp of power and 205Nm of torque. Both these engine options come mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

Toyota might globally launch this Corolla facelift in a couple of months and we can expect its Indian debut to happen in 2017. In the Indian market, the Corolla competes with the Skoda Octavia, Volkswagen Jetta, Chevrolet Cruze and the Hyundai Elantra.
