      Toyota cars get expensive by up to Rs 20,000

      The Indian unit of leading car maker Toyota Motors announced on Friday that it has increased the car price of its key portfolio models in the Indian market by up to Rs 20,000. The company said in a statement issued on Friday that the increased car prices will be effective from April 1, 2011. The prices of crossover Innova, premium sedan Corolla Altis and luxury SUV (sports utility vehicle) Fortuner have been increased by 1 to 1.5 per cent.

      The prices of different variants of Toyota Innova have been increased in the range of Rs 12,557 and Rs 18,424. The car is currently available in the price bracket of Rs 8.27 lakh and Rs 12.18 lakh.

      On the other hand, the different variants of Corolla Altis diesel model, which is currently available in the price range of Rs 11.18 lakh to Rs 14.03 lakh, will now become costlier by Rs 14,100 to Rs 17,700. The petrol variants of the Altis model, which is currently available at a price range of Rs 10.28 lakh to Rs 14.38 lakh, will go dearer by Rs 10,400 and Rs 14,500.

      The price of Toyota Fortuner, which is currently available at Rs 19.94 lakh, has been increased by Rs 20,000.
