Top Indian auto makers are working towards bringing their new models in the promising sedan segment of domestic passenger car market. As per reports, a number of new sedan models have been lined up for a 2013 launch in the country. Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Honda, Renault, Skoda and Mercedes-Benz are set to lure Indian car enthusiasts with facelift and new sedan models in the C, D and E segments of the domestic auto market. Accordingly, CarTrade.com has compiled a list of 'Top 5 upcoming sedans of 2013.'
Heading our list of Top 5 upcoming sedans is the Honda Amaze compact that is also one of the most awaited new model launches scheduled for the 2013 calendar year in the Indian auto market. Speaking of under-the-hood specifications of Honda Amaze, the compact sedan is expected to come fitted with a 1.2 litre i-VTEC engine powering its petrol variant, whereas the diesel could be powered with a 1.5 litre i-DTEC power-mill. The 1.2 litre i-VTEC power-mill could belt out a peak output power close to 85 bhp and the 1.5 litre i-DTEC engine is expected to generate 77 bhp of maximum output power. Upon its arrival on Indian turf, the Honda Amaze will be pitched in a stiff face off against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Chevrolet Sail, Tata eCS, Ford Classic and Mahindra Verito.
Next on the list is 2013 Maruti Suzuki SX4 facelift model of the mid sized sedan. The upcoming reworked SX4 will take on the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna Fluidic, Volkswagen Vento, Nissan Sunny, Renault Scala and Skoda Rapid when it is introduced in the Indian auto market. The Maruti SX4 facelift model has already been seen doing test rounds on the local streets and a 2013 launch looks nothing but imminent. Recently, the sales of Maruti Suzuki SX4 models have dwindled in the market, which underlines the fact that upcoming facelift holds a great strategic importance to the car maker.
The 3rd and 4th finishers on our list of Top 5 upcoming sedans are two D-segment contenders- Renault Fluence facelift and Skoda Octavia. The new Renault Fluence sedan was launched in Oman in the second half of February '13 and the French auto major is rumoured to be set for its Indian launch somewhere in the last quarter of 2013 calendar year. As per industry sources, Skoda Auto is mulling over the idea of re-introducing its 3rd generation Octavia model in the country by the end of this year. Both 2013 Renault Fluence and Skoda Octavia will be pitched against the likes of Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla, Chevrolet Cruze and Volkswagen Jetta in the Indian auto market.
Listed 5th is a 'Three Pointed Star' model, the much awaited Mercedes-Benz CLA coupe. The CLA shares the platform with the A-Class hatchback and is one of the tiniest sedans in the German auto maker's product portfolio. The upcoming saloon will be pitched against the likes of Honda Accord, Volkswagen Passat, Toyota Camry and Nissan Teana in the Indian luxury car market. The cute Mercedes-Benz CLA coupe is expected to see Indian daylight sometime in the later half of 2013.
