      As per the latest news, Honda India registered sales growth of 151 per cent in November 2013 as against the corresponding month last year. Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President – Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd., reported stated, “Led by strong demand for Honda Amaze, HCIL has experienced robust sales month after month since April 2013. During November 2013, our sales grew up by 151%. This month was also important as we unveiled the all new 4th Generation Honda City in India and we are confident that we will enter a new era of Honda’s dominance in premium cars with City’s launch scheduled in January 2014.” If one follows the comment closely, it enlists unveiling of the all new 4th Generation Honda City in India in the same month. Thus, November 2013 has been an important month for Honda for it saw the introduction of 4th Generation Honda City, which also includes Honda City Diesel.

      Earlier, Hironori Kanayama, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Honda India, reportedly said, “There has been very high anticipation amongst the Honda loyalists who have been eagerly waiting for the 4th Generation City and introduction of Diesel in the model. We are sure that the car will further strengthen the bond with our esteemed customers.”

      The unveiling of all-new 4th Generation Honda City also marked the incorporation of 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine in the all-new City. The diesel City is scheduled to be launched in January 2014 and interested customers can enrol themselves for the pre-launch bookings of this upcoming car. Interestingly, the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder DOHC i-DTEC diesel engine of upcoming Honda City Diesel is based on Honda’s latest 'Earth Dreams Technology' in order to offer superior performance and high fuel economy. Also, the engine has been specifically tuned to offer optimum outputs, considering the Indian driving conditions.

      The second vehicle in the list is Tata Nano Diesel, which happens to be a compact and light weight car. The auto company is planning to introduce its diesel version in the Indian car market pretty soon. A highly affordable price tag and brilliant fuel efficiency would be two strong pointers for this upcoming vehicle. The petrol model, which is available in the market, returns a mileage of up to 25.4 kmpl. Also, Tata Nano CNG version yields a mileage of up to 36.0 km/kg. With these figures, it can be said that Tata Motors has successfully been able to enhance the mileage factor with the CNG variant. So, it is highly customary that the upcoming diesel variant too will offer a high fuel efficiency and low cost of maintenance. This 5-door car is expected to come equipped with a fuel frugal 1.2-litre engine, mated to a 5 speed manual transmission system. It must be noted that the price of this model is expected to be less than Rs. 4 lakh. Next in the list is Honda Mobilio, which is likely to be introduced in 2014. Sources close to the development process have revealed that this vehicle is based on the Brio platform.

      Maruti Suzuki YL1 is yet another car, which is likely to replace the SX4 sedan, as per sources. YL1 is expected to come with two engine options namely 1.4-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre Fiat Multijet turbo diesel. Industry experts are of a view that both Honda Mobilio and Maruti Suzuki YL1 will return a high fuel efficiency under local conditions in order to lure domestic customers.
