Ahead of the new Toyota Fortuner launch tomorrow, we reveal a few things about the upcoming next-gen SUV. The new model does not carry forward any design elements from the older generation model and is based on an all new platform. Also there is a possibility of a petrol engine entering the fray. The upcoming model has already been seen on a few occasions in the past and we would get a similar design as the one in the international market.

Reports suggests that the new Toyota Fortuner is expected to be offered with one petrol and two diesel engine options. The engines will come mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox. AWD option will only be offered in the bigger engine variant. The engines will be borrowed from the Innova Crysta, however they might come in a different state of tune.

As for dimensions, the new model claims to be around 90mm longer and 15mm wider than the older generation model. The SUV gets the same wheelbase of 2,750mm, however it is now about 15mm shorter than the outgoing model. For freshness, the new Fortuner gets Bi-Xenon LED projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights and chrome door handles. The new SUV does not look anything like the current model and is reportedly bigger and better than the outgoing one. Post launch, the new vehicle will compete against the likes of recently launched new Ford Endeavour and the upcoming 2017 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.

As for the interior, one can expect to see premium leather upholstery, touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, cooled glovebox, electric driver sear adjust function and more. For safety, ABS with EBD and airbags will come as standard. The vehicle is also expected to be offered with stability control programme. The customers might also get multiple interior colour combinations to choose from and also get a roomier cabin.

The new generation Toyota Fortuner loaded with fresh styling inputs, it is expected to carry forward the cult status associated with this popular SUV. Good quality, features and reliability will help in the success of the new model as well. On the pricing front, we anticipate that the new model will be priced between Rs 26 lakh – Rs 30 lakh. Additional details about the vehicle will be known tomorrow post its official launch.
