After witnessing slump in sales of late Honda India is currently enjoying success of its City sedan and Amaze CS. Ahead of the upcoming launch of Mobilio MPV slated to come in third week of July, Honda is rejoicing the immense response received for its first diesel powered vehicle in India Amaze. The popularity of Amaze can be inferred from the fact that in a time span of one year, Honda has sold 88,000 units of Amaze which is a great achievement in itself. Launched in India a year ago, Amaze was the first sub-four meter sedan offered in diesel engine.

Underpinning Brio platform, Amaze has become a popular choice for customers in compact sedan segment that also has strong contenders like Swift Dzire and Xcent. The competition is going to get tougher with a couple of new vehicle entering the exponentially growing segment soon including Tata Zest.

Amaze came at a time when Honda’s portfolio lacked diesel variants. Under the hood, the sedan gets the 1.5 liter, i-DTEC, four cylinder, turbocharged, diesel powertrain that yields a top power of 100 PS along with a peak torque of 200 Nm. The robust diesel engine coupled with the refined suspension set up offers segment best ride quality.

Yet another vehicle from Honda’s stable underpinning Brio platform- Mobilio MPV, is set to be launched next month. The company is currently citing issues with the waiting period of the new City sedan. Foreseeing demand for its upcoming cars including new Jazz that will be rolled out from Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, HCIL is working towards enhancing the production capacity of the manufacturing facility by next fiscal. The company is also working towards expanding its dealership network in Tier II and Tier III cities. Honda eyes adding 58 new outlets in coming time in various multiple cities.
