Elon Musk has told journalists that the Tesla Model 3 is due to receive a performance variant. Tesla’s Model 3 performance variant will tentatively hit the market by mid-2018, and for all you know, it could already be under development.
The company is known to be working towards eliminating production woes so that the Model 3 can be made at full swing at their factory. It makes perfect business sense that Tesla would look at expanding the variants in the Model 3 range only after these production constraints are overcome.
Currently, the top-end Tesla Model 3 can do the 0-100kmph sprint in 5.1secs before maxing out at a top speed of 225kmph. When the sportier Model 3 version is introduced, it will be built on the lines of Tesla’s Model S P100D which is capable of hitting 100kmph in just 2.5secs. Reports claim that the Model 3 performance version could be at the receiving end of a dual-motor that would enhance the car’s 0-100kmph time to about 3secs.
We shall bring you more information on the Tesla Model 3 performance variant in the time to come.
