Once the German authorities approve this acquisition, Tesla will push to finalise the deal by the first half of 2017. After which the new company, called ‘Tesla Grohmann Automation’, will begin working on upgrading Tesla’s automated manufacturing system from their facility at Pruem.

Grohmann was involved with numerous companies, like Daimler and BMW, to build their production facilities for electric car batteries around the world. Tesla’s current production capacity stands at 80,000 cars a year, which it intends increasing to 500,000 vehicles by the year 2018. "To date, we have increased the production rate at our Fremont Factory by 400 per cent in four years, and we expect this acquisition to accelerate that growth rate," Tesla said in a blogpost.

Tesla has claimed that this acquisition will also add over 1,000 jobs in Germany over the coming years.
