For a while now, news has been doing rounds that the Tata Xenon facelift might come with an automatic transmission. This time around, fresh images of the test mule with automatic transmission has surfaced thereby indicating its possible launch sometime in the next six months. The Xenon pick-up truck from Tata has not been a big sales volume generator, but with the introduction of an automatic option, it might well generate fresh interest.

The exterior of the facelift model does not get major upgrades and changes are restricted to new body coloured grille and revised bumpers with fog light enclosures. In the Australian market, the Xenon is the only product to be offered by Tata Motors in the passenger vehicle segment, hence if the automaker is not too keen on offering an automatic option in India, it will definitely make it Down Under.

As seen in images, the test mule features dual tone fabric seats and two tone dashboard in grey and black. However, you can expect mild tweaks in the production spec version while no major upgrades are expected for now. Under the hood, it will continue to be powered by a 2.2-litre four-cylinder VariCOR engine which generates 144bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. Reports also indicate that the engine might be tweaked a little for slightly extra power output figures. More details about the vehicle might be known in the coming days.
