Tata Motors is planning to showcase an all new variant of its flagship hatchback Vista at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo in February, with launch taking place just after that. This is possibly the same vehicle which has been doing test runs in India for quite a long time now.  Codenamed as Falcon 4, the new variant will have both a 1.4-litre, four cylinder turbo intercooled petrol engine and a 1.3-litre Multijet, Common Rail SDE diesel mill, found under the existing model.

Sourced from Fiat, the Mulitjet diesel powertrain is competent to deliver a peak power output of 75PS @ 4000rpm with a torque of 190NM @ 1750-3000rpm. The petrol power-unit produces a maximum power of 71PS @ 4500rpm and a peak torque of 135.4NM @ 2500rpm. The top-end variant (VX Tech Quadrajet) will certainly be richer and have more to offer such as touch-screen multimedia system with satellite navigation, an audio system with four speakers, ABS (Anti-lock braking system) with EBD (Electronic braking distribution), steering mounted audio controls, keyless entry and many other features.

The 2014 Vista is likely to get Teflon coated headliners along with sturdier doors lock system. The fit and finish will be better than before. The quality plastic and material will add more to its cabin feel. There could be changes or tweaks in the suspension system as well to improve car's drivability and NVH levels.

The new variant is likely to be priced around Rs.5 – Rs.5.50 lakh.
