Tata Harrier will be launched in India on 23 January 2019. The Harrier will be launched with a single engine option with a manual transmission and is expected to carry a price bracket of Rs 16-21 lakhs. It will rivals the likes of Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tuscon and upcoming MG SUV

The Harrier is the new premium SUV from Tata’s stable and was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo as the H5X Concept. The production-ready Harrier has retained most of the design elements from the H5X. Debuting the IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy, the Harrier gives you an impression of Land Rover Discovery Sport. Although the low-placed headlamps and high-placed DRLs are a novelty, it should grow on you over time. The profile of the Harrier is stylish with flared arches, sloping roof and a floating effect on D-pillar. And at the rear, the Discovery Sport’s inspiration is clearly seen with sleek yet sharp LED tail lights and a sculpted tailgate. On the inside, the Harrier gets an all-new cabin which takes its cues from the more expensive JLRs. The massive 8.8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system dominates the dashboard with a wood-finished insert running across it. The features include an eight-way adjustable driver seat with a four-way adjustable co-driver seat, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, electric ORVMs, cooled storage box, umbrella holder and many practical storage places all around.

At launch, the Harrier will be available in a diesel-manual combination. Under the hood will be a 2.0-litre four-cylinder Kryotec turbodiesel engine which produces 140bhp and 350Nm. The transmission is a six-speed manual sending power to front-wheels only. Although there is no AWD version, the Harrier does get a special ESP system with selectable modes for different conditions – normal, wet and rough.
