Tata’s latest product offering in the country, the Nexon, has been quick to emerge as a popular seller in the country. Over the last six weeks, Tata has amassed nearly 15,000 bookings for the Nexon and the rising demand for the vehicle has pushed the waiting period to close to three months. In an effort to fasten the deliveries, the company will soon double the production for the Nexon.

In the last couple of months, the company’s production had been averaging around 3,000 units, which was lower than the target of around 6,000 units a month. Now, even though the company has been receiving around 350 bookings a day for the Nexon, an increase in production will result in more sales for Tata’s new product in India due to the shorter waiting period.

The Tata Nexon is available in petrol and diesel engine options in India. The 1.2-litre inline four cylinder petrol engine generates 108bhp of power and 170Nm of the torque while the diesel version is powered by a 1.5-litre engine which generates 108bhp of power and 260Nm of torque. Both the engine options get six-speed manual transmission as standard. As part of the standard safety equipment, the Nexon comes with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and multi-drive mode function. Available in four variants - XE, XM, XT, and the XZ+, the Nexon is offered at an introductory price range of Rs 5.85 lakhs to Rs 9.44 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
