The revelation came by the hands of General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China, who stated on their official website that Tata owned Jaguar Land Rover will recall their Evoque and Freelander models manufactured this year (2012). Reportedly, the faulty models are identified as the ones which were assembled on June 11, 2012 at the company’s production units in China. Further, the number of defective units stand at 190 units of Evoque and Freelander premium SUVs.

Additionally, some 147 units of 2012 Evoque and the all-new 2013 Evoque models manufactured between September 18, 2012 and October 20, 2012 will also be recalled for defective steering boxes. The agency has also informed that the faulty and below standard grade components used in the recalled units contain some possible security threats. The official statement highlighted the fact that recall was unavoidable and was actually driven by safety concerns regarding the sub-standard components used in the vehicles’ rear brake callipers. Accordingly, the faulty fitting could lead to dangerous outcomes, such as abrupt tyre deflation and sudden failing of brakes.

Evidently, the British premium luxury and sports car maker, Jaguar Land Rover has witnessed some incredible sales from its operations based in China auto sector during the ongoing 2012-13 fiscal. The company has claimed that the rapidly growing Chinese passenger car market provides it with one of the most progressive and fruitful business environments. Hence, the Tata Motors’ completely owned subdivision is expected to traverse every length in winning the confidence and trust among Chinese consumers and the latest announcement of vehicle recall is just a neat example of that.
